College Reading Lists-continued

This week, the SchoolDays blog started off with some information and recommendations from “The Teacher” for college reading. I included a few books that I believe are beneficial precedents for a college education, as well as just to life in general.

In addition to yesterday’s list, I feel it is especially important to know and understand the sociology of the following stories/novels, and the importance of each in literature:

The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
The Odyssey
Works of Shakespeare

This is by no means an exhaustive list. Here are some other resources for your information:

CollegeBoard.com: Recommended for College-Bound Readers

The Modern Library: The Board’s List and the Reader’s List

Even if you haven’t read the book, you have this teacher’s permission to watch the movie:
Out of Africa
The Hunt for Red October
Gone With the Wind
