Just for Fun: Educational TV Programs for all ages
Although television should limited for kids (and everyone) in the summertime, there are some really good shows to choose from these days while trying to beat the summer heat.
Toddlers-1st grade:
* Sesame Street: The show seems to have done away with a lot of the “street conversations” by all the people that lived in the neighborhood, but it’s still a good show for reinforcing alphabet letters, reading, rhyming, numbers, and music.
Preschool-Young elementary students:
* Mister Rogers: Sadly, Mr. Rogers has passed on, but is show lives on. His thoughtful, down—to—earth, yet respectful conversational style with kids is rarity these days.
Middle School (Junior High) through adulthood:
* The History Channel: Parents will want to check out programming ahead of time for content, but their documentaries are informative and interesting.
* Biographies: As in those seen on A&E (not the celebrity channels)
