College Reading Lists: My Recommendations

Published by rhonda at 5:00 am under Graduate advice, college Edit This

For students in high school, and all incoming college freshmen :

Lots of college reading lists are swirling around out there. I had one when I was in high school, and there are numerous lists now. Some things have changed, but many books have remained on the lists as classic recommendations.

Be sure to check the reading list for the college you plan to attend. I am including a few books from some of these lists that  I think you should read. Perhaps you can make time for a few over the summer. In any case, if you are college-bound, get ready for lots of reading!

The Jungle
Great Expectations
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Odyssey
Wuthering Heights
The Old Man and the Sea
Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn
Romeo and Juliet (and the other works of Shakespeare)
In Cold Blood

the Bible.
anything written by C.S. Lewis

Does anyone wish to comment on these lists? Teachers? Parents? Students? Let me know what you think. I’ll include more information, and sources for reading lists tomorrow.
