Good Teaching Movies
For some weekend fun, allow me to list a few teaching/school movies I believe are helpful and inspirational to the cause of good teaching. What I like best in these films is that they are about idealistic and enthusiastic teachers who triumphed in the face of opposition from others.
There are certainly more teaching movies than listed here, but these are my favorites (there are still some I have yet to see). I especially like the fact that some are based on true stories:
1. Stand and Deliver (1988)
2. Dead Poets Society (1989)
3. Mr. Holland’s Opus (1995)
4. Music Of the Heart (1999)
5. The Miracle Worker (1962 version with Patty Duke as Helen Keller)
What are some of your favorite movies about teaching and schools?
